About Me
Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Adina Stoica and I am currently a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at Washington University in St Louis. My primary research areas of interest are Computer Vision and Computer Graphics. You can check my Research and Projects links on the left to read more about my research.

I have recently graduated from Bard College, a small, private liberal arts college in upstate New York. Bard College has one of the most beautiful campuses in the United States, and also one of the most rigurous programs.

During my time at Bard, I was involved in the research activities of the Bard Laboratory for Algebraic and Symbolic Computation (ASC Lab), as well as took part, for a semester, in the Bard Globalization and International Affairs (BGIA) Program in New York City, where I interned at Human Rights First (HRF).

During the summers of my freshman, sophomore and junior years at Bard, I participated in various Research Experience For Undergraduates (REU) (or associated) programs. My first two summers I was at the University of Houston, performing research on thermal imaging for stress recognition, while my last summer I went to Clemson University, where I performed research on distance estimation in virtual environments. You can read more in my resume, or by clicking the Projects link on the left.

Other than that, I am originally from Romania and my freshman year of college was the first time I set foot on American soil. The US immigration services refer to people like me as "nonimigrant aliens", which I find slightly funny, considering that I grew up watching TV, where aliens meant extraterrestrials, and Romania is definitely a country on Earth.

My biggest passion is probably traveling, and I want to see as much of the world as I can. Unfortuantely, right now I lack both the money and the time for extensive traveling, but some day I will travel more. You can see pictures of the places I've been by clicking the Photos link on the left.

Other things I enjoy doing are painting, sculpting from clay, reading, creative writing, computer-programming projects, roller-skating, biking, watching movies and hanging out with my friends. I also love meeting diverse people and learning cool things about their cultural (and not only) background. I should also mention chocolate. And the color blue (if the webpage theme didn't give that away already).
