Recycling Plastics
In order to be recycled plastics must first be separated into seven different categories based on their chemical compositions.
| 1. PET this includes 2 liter soda bottles and most food jars | ![]() |
| 2. HDPE this includes detergent bottles and milk jugs | ![]() |
| 3. PVC this includes outdoor furniture, water bottles, and salad dressing bottles | ![]() |
| 4. LDPE this includes produce bags, trash can bags and dry cleaning bags | ![]() |
| 5. PP this includes bottle caps and straws | |
| 6. PS this includes Styrofoam peanuts, cups, plastic ware and take-away boxes | ![]() |
| 7. OTHER this includes all other special plastics such as those used to create Tupperware and Nalgene bottles | ![]() |
