Sapphire is one of the four payloads on
NASA's Kodiak Star mission. The others are:
-
Starshine 3; it may look
like an orbital disco ball, but it is actually a fantastic educational
and upper-atmosphere research tool.
-
PICOSat; built by Surrey
Satellite Technology, Ltd. for the Department of Defense, it carries four
DoD experiments.
-
PCSat; the Prototype
Communications Satellite developed at the U.S. Naval Academy. It will serve
as a digipeater for the APRS
network.
Orbit Parameters
-
800 km altitude
-
Nearly-circular orbit
-
67 degree inclination
-
