Transportation:
Once you land in St. Louis, there are many ways to get to the conference.  If you are renting a car or plan to take the MetroLink please see the directions online.  For the Crowne Plaza hotel shuttle, go to baggage claim and there is a Crowne Plaza courtesy phone that directly connects you to the Crowne Plaza Hotel.  You should call when you get to baggage claim so the shuttle is there by the time you retrieve your bags.  The airport is approximately 20 minutes from the hotel and if you prefer to take a taxi it should cost around $30.

Friday night: shuttles from the Crowne Plaza to WashU will be as needed (just tell the front desk) and return shuttles will start at 8:30pm but you can call at any time if you want to go back earlier.

Saturday morning: the first shuttle to WashU will run right after the end of the joint meeting at 9:50am and the second will be at 10:10am.

Saturday evening: two shuttles will run from WashU back to the hotel, one at 5:50pm and one at 6:10pm.

If you need the shuttle at any other time (shuttle runs up to a 4 mile radius around the hotel), simply call the main desk (314) 726-5400.  Please note that the shuttle only holds 22 passengers and so you are encouraged to use your own transportation if possible.

Parking:
Parking in red (that do not say "enforced 24/7") & yellow areas on campus from 6:00pm on Friday through 7:00am Monday is free and does not require a parking permit.  You may also park in the underground parking garage (below the Danforth University Center) at a rate of $1/hour for a max of

Flying to St. Louis

Directions to Washington University’s Danforth Campus from Lambert-St. Louis International Airport

Airport Shuttle: Free airport transportation runs every hour on the hour from the hotel.  When you get to the airport we ask that you collect your luggage and then call the hotel.  There is a courtesy phone in the baggage claim area and the hotel shuttle will pick you up from a designated point at the airport.

Rent a car: Head east on I-70 to I-170 south (Exit 238B). Exit on Forest Park Parkway (Exit 1E) and continue on for 2.5 miles, turn right on Big Bend Boulevard. Turn left on Forsyth Boulevard and left on Olympian Way.

Take a taxi: Cab fare is $20-$30 each way.

Ride the MetroLink: For $3.50 you can take the MetroLink light rail system from Lambert-St. Louis International Airport to the Danforth Campus. Board the train at either the Lambert Airport Main Station or the Lambert Airport East Station (trains leaving the airport travel in only one direction). Exit the train at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere Station. Cross the platform and wait for the next westbound train going to Shrewsbury I-44. Board that train and take it two stops to the Big Bend Station. This station is at the intersection of Big Bend Boulevard and Forest Park Parkway (see map below). Exit the train and take the steps or elevator up one flight, then take the underground bridge across the tracks. Then take the steps or ramp to ground level. You will see the North West corner of campus.  Walk South down Big Bend Boulevard until you reach the other end of campus, then turn East (left) onto Forsyth Boulevard.  The Danforth University Center (DUC) will be the second building on your left after you pass the sports field. The trip will take approximately 30-40 minutes.  You can also take the MetroLink two more stops to the Clayton Station and then walk four blocks to the Crowne Plaza Hotel. About St. Louis
St. Louis will surprise you: The metro area includes nearly 2,800,000 residents and is the cultural, medical and retail center for Eastern Missouri.  Two events at the beginning of the 20th century, the 1904 World's Fair and 1904 Olympic Games (the first ever held in the United States) are of particular pride to St. Louisans.  In the 21st century, St. Louis has transformed from a manufacturing and industrial economy into a globally known focus for research in medicine, biotechnology, and other sciences. The St. Louis region is home to 21 Fortune 1000 companies, nine of which are in the Fortune 500. The region is also home to some of the country's largest privately held corporations. The city has many nicknames, the most popular being "Gateway City", as it is seen as the Eastern/Western US dividing mark. St. Louis is also called "Gateway to the West" on behalf of the many people who migrated west through St. Louis via the Missouri River (first leg of the Oregon Trail) and other wagon trails.
